They open out on the cliff face some fifty metres above sea level, offering a spectacular entrance with views over Canyamel Bay and the rugged north-eastern coastline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Known since ancient times \u2013 the Romans are said to have ventured there, and human bones provide evidence of prehistoric occupation \u2013 they were first explored scientifically in the 19th century.
