Sommaire

Mallorca in winter reveals itself to be a very different island from the one you might imagine at the height of the high season. From November to March, local life takes centre stage, the villages return to their usual rhythm, and you can explore the landscapes without the summer heat. It’s a particularly pleasant time of year for strolling, visiting Palma, exploring the Serra de Tramuntana, discovering local crafts, markets and vineyards, or simply taking the time to stop off somewhere lovely.

At Évasion Authentic, winter is not seen as a low season, but as a different way to experience Mallorca. The experiences available during this time focus on heritage, nature, gastronomy, meaningful encounters and the freedom to explore. Depending on how you like to travel, you can choose a Classic Experience accompanied by an Amig@, a Freedom Experience using your own vehicle, or a multi-night stay combining accommodation and experiences.

What is the weather like in Mallorca in winter?

Winters in Mallorca are mild by European standards, but they should not be mistaken for a prolonged summer. In Palma, the AEMET’s climate norms indicate average maximum temperatures of around 19 °C in November, 16 °C in December and around 15 °C in January and February. Mornings and evenings are noticeably cooler, and the Serra de Tramuntana can experience colder and more changeable conditions than the coast.

It rains more often than in summer, though this does not necessarily mean that every day is grey. According to the average figures for Palma, there are around five to six days of rain per month in the middle of winter. It is therefore best to pack several layers, a waterproof jacket and suitable footwear, especially for excursions and walks.

This climate also explains why winter is so well suited to certain experiences: walking becomes more comfortable, cultural visits are more enjoyable without the intense heat, and travelling along inland or mountain roads offers a very different atmosphere to that of July or August.

Why visit Mallorca in winter?

Visiting Mallorca in winter means, first and foremost, discovering a quieter island. The major attractions, the villages and Palma remain lively, but the experience is less dominated by the tourist crowds. It’s easier to take the time to look around, have a chat, stop for a while and enjoy lunch without having to organise your whole day around the heat.

This time of year is also ideal for outdoor activities, culture, art and fine dining. The Serra de Tramuntana, the villages in the centre and south-east, Palma’s museums and the local markets take on a whole new dimension when the aim is no longer simply to get to the beach as quickly as possible.

Finally, winter allows you to plan a more balanced holiday: a guided day, a day on your own, an evening in Palma, a hike and some free time. It is precisely this variety that Évasion Authentic’s winter packages aim to highlight.

Extend the experience with a winter break in Mallorca

For those who prefer a multi-day getaway that is already organised, Évasion Authentic also offers Mallorca short breaks combining accommodation and experiences. Our winter packages are available from November to March for 2, 3 or 4 nights and include selected accommodation together with one or more experiences, depending on the length of your stay.

Whether it’s a boutique hotel in Palma, a finca in the countryside, a property near the Serra de Tramuntana or a village house: the idea is to choose a particular atmosphere and enjoy a holiday that’s already well put together, rather than booking each element separately.

How to prepare for a winter stay in Mallorca?

Even in mild weather, make sure you pack versatile clothing: light layers for the mildest times of day, but also a warm jacket for the mornings and evenings, and something to protect you from the rain. In the mountains, conditions can change quickly, so it’s best to wear suitable footwear and check the weather forecast before setting off.

If you choose a Freedom Experience, having your own vehicle is essential. For a Classic Experience, simply check the departure area and pick-up arrangements indicated on the experience page. Timings and practical details may vary depending on the experience you choose.

Mallorca in winter: a different season, a different way to travel

Visiting Mallorca between November and March isn’t simply a matter of replicating a summer holiday with a few degrees less. It’s actually the perfect opportunity to change pace: walk more, explore the villages, discover Palma in a different light, set off on a drive through the Tramuntana mountains, and take an interest in local craftspeople, markets, wine and fine dining.
